So my bank holiday weekend trip to Norwich, turned out to be far more vintage then I had anticipated with a visit to Norwich’s Antiques Show. I was in Norwich visiting a friend from California who is studying her PhD in Norwich and she was showing me around the cute little nooks and crannies she has found so far. One of which was the Norwich Antiques Fair.
My inner 1950s housewife got very excited at the china tea cups and shabby chic dressers, both of which are on my future house wish list.
As well as this were some amazing art deco jewellery and some antique cameos which I completely fell in love with. This one in particular is similar to one my grandma gave me, which I still haven’t found time to wear yet. (Note to self: find a cameo inspired outfit.)
But the most hilarious item we found that day was a Bruce Willis record for “Under the Broadwalk”. Yes, Bruce Willis, Mr Die Hard, had a record. I had heard about this on the Graham Norton show but I found it most funny that it should be in an Antiques Show. For those truly diehard fans here what the song actually sounds like.
Although I didn’t buy anything, it was fun having a look around, and getting inspiration from all the old cute things. I have since taken to using my own tea cups to as jewellery dishes, and will definitely be looking for more vintage fairs and antique shops closer to home.
What’s the best thing you’ve found at an antique show? Anything as good as Bruce Willis?
