When my laptop died at the end of last month my life was over. It was very old on it’s last legs anyway, so I wasn't surprised when the old girl pack it in. But it let me with ultimate question of the 2010s do you go new laptop or tablet?
As I still do a lot of travel up down the country to Newcastle and spend a lot of time on trains the idea of have a tablet I could carry in a handbag was greatly appealing, but as I’m not the biggest fan of apple I didn't want to go Ipad. (I realise that’s sacrilegious for many people. At the same time, I like having full keyboard for blog writing and sometimes a tablet just isn't enough. So I was very happy when and tested and fell in love with the Microsoft Surface 2.
Many people warned me against getting Surface saying that it wasn't as a good as other tablets, (due to the lack of apps) but as a laptop doesn't have any apps and I have a HTC phone that meets all my app needs I was ok with this.

Top Reasons Why I Love My Surface – (It’s work for me)
1. Type Keyboard Cover. Unlike the other tablets, the Surface has the type keyboard cover which can turn your tablet into a laptop, when you need it.
2. Microsoft Office as standard. While it has Windows RT (which many people don’t like) it comes with Microsoft Office installed for free, allowing me to do all of my writing very easily.
3. USB port. Unlike most tablets it comes with a USB ports, so all my work/music/movies that were on an external hard drive can be easily transferred. Also if need to add a mouse you can have that too.
Well I am over the moon with my Surface, not everything is perfect so while I do recommended them for people (like myself) who are looking for a replacement laptop, you should be aware of the few draw backs.
1. No Google Chrome. My biggest let down is that you can’t download Google Chrome and are made to use Internet Explorer. It’s ok and not a bad as it use to be but it’s not as good as Google Chrome. (Also the default search engine is Bing)
2. Price of type keyboard. At £125 for the official Type Keyboard, and £85 for the Touch (pointless getting the touch, just use the on screen keyboard) I managed to get a Type from Amazon £85 (Used – but like new came in original packaging.)
3. Less Covers. I know this is a petty thing, but I do like things to be pretty. As Ipads are the most fashionable tablets, there are a larger variety of covers for them, which isn't as fun.
