Thanks to my Filipino roots my hair is super thick and course, which means in the summer heat it can really get in the way. The easiest thing for me to do, (especially at work) is to tie it up to get out of the way, but practical can always mean stylish.
Hopefully this will give you some ideas on what to do with your hair in the summer time.

Part 1 The Hairband.
Brushing your hair out and section off to small sections on either side.
Plait them into normal braids and pin the over your head securing in place with hair pins. Make sure you hide the ends of the plaits by tucking them underneath. Add in an extra hair slide in the middle to stop it from moving round.

Part 2 The Fishtail
Next brush all your hair to one side and split it into two sections. Take a small piece from the outside for the first section, and add it to the inside of the second section.

Then take a small piece of the outside of the section section and add it to the inside of the first. Pull tight after each move of hair, especially in the beginning, as this gets its tight and tidy.
Repeat this all the way down the hair. It can take until the fourth or fifth plait before you can clearly see the fishtail.
